Bramble Cocktail

Description

The bramble cocktail is a quintessentially British drink. A glorious mixture of sweet and sour and served ice cold, it’s a beautifully refreshing drink for a summers day or warm evening.

The default recipe makes one cocktail

Ingredients

Scale
  • 56 fresh blackberries OR 1 tbsp creme de mure
  • 50ml gin
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp simple syrup (see notes for how to make)
  • 23 handfuls crushed ice

To Serve:

  • 12 fresh blackberries
  • slice of lemon

Instructions

  1. If you are using creme de mure then pour into the bottom of the glass. If not, muddle together the raspberries with a small splash of the gin and place in the glass.
  2. Top the glass with a couple of handfuls of crushed ice
  3. Add the gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and a few ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Shake for around 20 seconds and until the outside of the shaker is ice cold.
  4. Strain the gin mixture into the glass and then top with more crushed ice until full.
  5. Serve with the blackberries on top and the slice of lemon on the edge of the glass.

Notes

  • To make the simple syrup mix 1 part water and 1 part sugar in a saucepan and heat slowly until the sugar is melted. Cool and store in the fridge until needed. You can store the syrup for up to one month.
