Description
The bramble cocktail is a quintessentially British drink. A glorious mixture of sweet and sour and served ice cold, it’s a beautifully refreshing drink for a summers day or warm evening.
The default recipe makes one cocktail
Ingredients
Scale
- 5–6 fresh blackberries OR 1 tbsp creme de mure
- 50ml gin
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp simple syrup (see notes for how to make)
- 2–3 handfuls crushed ice
To Serve:
- 1–2 fresh blackberries
- slice of lemon
Instructions
- If you are using creme de mure then pour into the bottom of the glass. If not, muddle together the raspberries with a small splash of the gin and place in the glass.
- Top the glass with a couple of handfuls of crushed ice
- Add the gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and a few ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Shake for around 20 seconds and until the outside of the shaker is ice cold.
- Strain the gin mixture into the glass and then top with more crushed ice until full.
- Serve with the blackberries on top and the slice of lemon on the edge of the glass.
Notes
- To make the simple syrup mix 1 part water and 1 part sugar in a saucepan and heat slowly until the sugar is melted. Cool and store in the fridge until needed. You can store the syrup for up to one month.
